The gentle sound of snow falling set in and filled the slums with a winter wonderland. People sought out shelter from the downpour of sleet and powder while others remain shiftily swaggering down the icy roads. While in my nightmarish world filled with hatred, I could not feel anything but pain, so this was a shocking change to my body. A sliver of a pallid pearly crescent moon hung overhead while I staggered down an alleyway. My hands skated over the grimy brick walls to my sides, trash hanging in the cracks and bags laid about. Buildings loomed over me, blocking my view of the gracious light I had so longed to bask in. The city air was bitterly harsh and difficult to breathe in, but somehow, I managed. Every few seconds or so, a pair of footsteps would echo my own thus causing me to stop to strain my ears to catch the sound.
